Finishing 2016 with a successful Kickstarter campaign was a great way to end the year. Again, I’d like to thank everyone who contributed and made it possible to get this film off the ground.

Now that the holidays are over and 2017 is well under way, I’m really looking forward to moving from the planning stage into actual production. This part of the filmmaking process is often the most frustrating because there is so much planning and organizing that has to take place before the cameras roll and it’s hard to resist the urge to just jump right in and start shooting. But pre-production is really important, especially if you want to avoid costly mistakes later on. Best laid plans often and will change, but a little planning goes a long way in the filmmaking business.

So, over the past few weeks, I’ve been reaching out to the community and having some great conversations with lots of experts, educators and adult self-directed learners. There seems to be no shortage of interesting people to talk to, and all of them have incredibly inspiring stories and thoughts about self-directed education to share. It’s enough to make your head-spin!

I’ve also been lining up the necessary equipment needed and making sure I have everything in place, so that when the time comes to move into production, I’m ready. And I’m happy to report that the time is coming really soon. My first shoot will be in February in Santa Cruz, California and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll be sharing more details about that as it happens so be sure to check back here or on our Facebook page for some sneak peeks.

Thanks so much for your support.

Onward!

Jeremy
